What Happens if I Fail an Exam in a Kyrgyz Medical University?
Medical school is notoriously difficult, and occasionally, students may fail an internal exam or module. It is important to know how the academic system in Kyrgyzstan handles such situations.
The Module System and Retakes
Kyrgyz universities follow the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). If you fail a module or a final semester exam, you are not immediately expelled. The university provides an official 'Retake Period' (often called an 'OTK' or 'Module Retake').
You are usually given 2 to 3 chances to clear the subject by paying a nominal administrative fee for the retake.
Academic Discipline
However, if a student continuously fails to clear a subject even after multiple retakes, or fails to maintain minimum attendance, the university retains the right to expel the student. Regular attendance is strictly monitored.
