The Premier Federal University of Crimea

V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University stands as a higher education institution with a rich, century-long history and a vast network of academic and research facilities across Crimea. Established in 1918 and reformed in 2014 through the merger of leading Crimean educational institutions, the university addresses the needs of both regional and national economies while serving as a source of pride for the Republic of Crimea and the Russian Federation.

With over 24,000 students including more than 4,000 international students from 45+ countries, CFU comprises 12 academies and institutes along with 6 technical colleges spread across Crimea. The university carries on diverse educational, teaching, research, and training activities enabling students to acquire broad knowledge across science, art, humanities, medicine, and many other fields.

Mission & Educational Approach

Mission: To train competent professionals using novel methods that meet high-level national and global education standards while helping students gain hands-on experience through practical training facilities and business partnerships.

Approach: The university has its own network of practical training facilities and works closely with businesses to open employment opportunities for graduates. For medical students, instruction begins in English for the first four years, transitioning to Russian in the final two years to facilitate patient communication during clinical training.

Campus & Student Experience

The CFU campus spans 17.3 hectares in Simferopol and includes 16 academic buildings, five dormitories, a covered track and field arena, sports complex with stadium and swimming pool, various eateries, and a library housing over 600,000 volumes. The university even has its own publishing facility.

Student life at Vernadsky CFU is vibrant and inclusive, with approximately 2,500 international students from over 30 countries creating a global atmosphere.
